What is a porcelain slab?

A porcelain slab is a large-format sheet of dense, kiln-fired ceramic, engineered from refined clays and mineral pigments heated to temperatures above 1,200°C. The result is a virtually non-porous surface that is scratch-resistant, UV-stable, heat-resistant and incredibly hygienic — suitable for everything from kitchen worktops to ventilated facades. Clay International supplies and distributes Infinity porcelain slabs to trade professionals such as stone fabricators, building contractors and developers. Infinity slabs are exclusively produced in Italy and Clay International is the brand’s sole UK distributor.

Finishes

Infinity Surfaces slabs come in polished, satin, Levigato Pearl and matte finishes across marble, stone, concrete, metal and plain-colour effects. Finish choice affects both aesthetics and practicality — our Finishes & Edges guide covers slip resistance, sheen and edge-profile options including mitred, bullnose, chamfered and pencil-round edges.

Porcelain vs quartz, granite and sintered stone

Compared with quartz, porcelain is UV-stable (no yellowing in sunlight), heat-resistant to very high temperatures and usable outdoors. Compared with granite and marble, it is non-porous, needs no sealing and offers consistent veining. Sintered stone brands such as Dekton and Neolith share many of these properties — the differences come down to composition, format range, price and availability. What sets Clay International apart from any brand is stock: slabs are held physically in our UK warehouses, and regular deliveries from Infinity in Italy reduce waiting times for non-UK stock items.

For architects and designers

We support A&D practices with CPD sessions on large-format porcelain specification, technical data for every range, and warehouse viewings where you and your clients can inspect full slabs — not just samples — before committing to a product. Our team’s fabrication and installation background supports the specifier in how the material is cut and fitted on sites and in factories.
