Technical characteristics
Infinity Surfaces slabs are manufactured to EN 14411 Annex G and tested to the EN ISO 10545 series. The figures below are the manufacturer’s declared values for first-choice material.

Slip resistance, and what it means in the UK
This is worth reading carefully, because two different tests get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing.
- Infinity classify the matt finish as R9 under DIN 51130, the German inclined ramp test. Satin and polished finishes carry no R rating.
- UK projects are normally specified to a Pendulum Test Value (PTV) under BS 7976, following UK Slip Resistance Group guidance. This is a different test method and an R rating cannot be converted into a PTV.
- A PTV is measured on the actual finish, and results change with wetness, contamination, cleaning regime and installed condition. It requires independent testing, which is why manufacturers rarely publish one.
- We do not hold PTV data for these slabs. Where slip resistance is critical, for example a wet area, a level access threshold or a public circulation route, we recommend independent pendulum testing of the specified finish before it is confirmed.
Talk to us early where flooring is in scope. We would rather flag this at specification stage than have it come up on site.
What the numbers mean
- Water absorption of 0.05% is ten times better than the standard requires. The slab is effectively non-porous, so it does not stain from within and never needs sealing.
- Breaking strength rises sharply with thickness. 900 N at 6mm suits cladding and vertical work. 12mm at 3,500 N is the usual worktop choice. 20mm at 10,000 N suits outdoor kitchens and heavy use.
- Abrasion below 145 mm³ against a 175 mm³ limit means the surface holds its finish in high-traffic areas.
- Frost and thermal shock both return no damage, which is what allows the same slab to be used inside and outside on a scheme.
- Chemical resistance of A, LA and HA covers household chemicals, low and high concentration acids and alkalis on matt and satin finishes.
Sustainability and environmental credentials
Infinity Surfaces is part of the Concorde Group and a member of Confindustria Ceramica, manufacturing in Modena, Italy. The production data below supports BREEAM and LEED submissions and responsible sourcing sections.
- 100% of production waste is reused within the production process.
- 100% of process water is purified and reused during milling.
- 60% of the electricity consumed is generated on site at the Infinity factory.
- Slabs are made entirely from natural, non-toxic raw materials, with no resin content.
- Zirconium Silicate has been almost entirely eliminated from the range, as attested by the CCC protocol.
- As a member of Ceramics of Italy, Infinity voluntarily adheres to Best Available Techniques (BAT).

Frequently asked questions
Are Infinity porcelain slabs slip rated?
The matt finish is classified R9 under DIN 51130, the German ramp test. Satin and polished finishes are not rated. How strong is porcelain by thickness?
Breaking strength rises with thickness. Under EN ISO 10545-4 Infinity slabs achieve 900 N at 6mm, 3,500 N at 12mm and 10,000 N at 20mm, against a standard requirement of 700 N to 1,300 N.
