Royal Black NU08

Royal Black NU08 is a black slab with pale veining running through it, closer to a veined marble than to the banded onyx effects. It is the most conventional of Clay's dark slabs and, for most projects, the most usable.

Where Royal Black suits

Black with veining is specified where a scheme wants depth without the flatness of a solid black: kitchen islands and worktops, bathroom vanities and walls, fireplace surrounds, bar and reception fronts. The veining gives the eye something to settle on, which is why it reads as less severe than Absolute Black across a large surface. Satin is the more forgiving finish on a working worktop, since polished black shows dust and water marks.

Slabs in this range can be bookmatched, so two halves mirror each other across a join. Vein position is decided at the slab, which is why it is worth seeing the material rather than a sample.

Formats and finishes

This slab is stocked in 6mm in polished (rectified) and 12mm in satin or polished (non-rectified).

The slab size is 3240 x 1620mm. Being porcelain, it is stain, scratch and heat resistant and needs no sealing, which is the practical reason it gets specified in place of the natural material. The 12mm is the worktop and vanity format and is offered in both satin and polished. The 6mm is the cladding thickness.

View the slab

A sample tells you less than the slab does, because the surface only reads properly at full size. Royal Black NU08 can be viewed at our London or Manchester warehouse by appointment.
