Nero Marquinia MB11

Nero Marquinia MB11 takes after Nero Marquina, the black marble quarried in the Basque Country of northern Spain. The look is a deep black ground crossed by fine white veining, and it is one of the most recognisable stones in European interiors.

Where Nero Marquinia suits

Black marble effect is specified where a scheme needs weight. It suits bathroom walls and floors, bar fronts, fireplace surrounds and feature islands, and it is a common pairing with brass and with pale timber. On a worktop it shows dust and water marks more readily than a pale slab, which is worth saying plainly to clients at specification stage rather than afterwards.

Slabs in this range can be bookmatched, so two halves mirror each other across a join. On a large run or a feature wall that turns a practical join into the point of the design. Vein position is decided at the slab, which is why it is worth seeing the material rather than a sample.

Formats and finishes

This slab is stocked in 6mm in satin, polished (rectified) and 12mm in satin, polished (non-rectified).

Slabs are supplied at 3240 x 1620mm. As porcelain, the surface is stain, scratch and heat resistant, non-porous and needs no sealing. Satin reduces the visibility of marks compared with polished, and is the more forgiving choice for a working surface.
