Porcelain has moved decisively into the mainstream for UK kitchen worktops, and for good reason. It is heat-resistant enough for a pan straight from the hob, scratch-resistant and stain-resistant in daily use, UV-stable, and virtually non-porous with no sealing required. Thicknesses for worktops
12mm is the all-round choice for worktops and heavy-use horizontal surfaces, and a cost-friendly option when installed without labour-intensive mitred edges. 20mm gives the solid-feel worktop, island and outdoor kitchen build, and suits applications where a larger overhang is wanted or less structural support is available. 6mm suits cladding, splashbacks, furniture and door faces alongside your worktop for a matched scheme.
Edges, including the mitred look
The chunky mitred edge is the most requested porcelain worktop detail in the UK: two slab faces cut at 45 degrees and bonded to create a thick, seamless-looking profile in any depth you like, with all the presence of a massive slab and none of the weight. Outdoor kitchens
Because porcelain is UV-stable and frost-resistant, the same slabs work outdoors: outdoor kitchens, barbecue runs and garden bars. 20mm is the usual choice outside.
Finishes and ranges
Polished, satin, Levigato Pearl and matte finishes across marble-effect, stone, concrete, metallic and plain-colour ranges, including bookmatched marble-effect pairs for waterfall islands and splashbacks. Full slabs are on display in both warehouses.
Porcelain in daily use
The same slabs specified for kitchen worktops are used for dining table tops in hospitality, where surfaces take constant heat, spills and cleaning and still have to look immaculate. These UK projects use Infinity Surfaces slabs supplied by Clay International.
How it works
For homeowners
Visit a warehouse to view slabs in person, with or without your fabricator, builder or kitchen designer. Having a trade professional at your appointment can be helpful for design or technical questions specific to your project, but you can always have those discussions with them after your visit. Once you have chosen, your fabricator, builder or designer confirms the reservation, then templates, fabricates and installs. We are happy to report your choices back to your kitchen retailer or stone fabricator after your visit.
For fabricators and kitchen studios
Slabs held in UK stock, with regular deliveries from Infinity in Italy for non-stock ranges. Nationwide delivery with no minimum order. Our team’s fabrication background means practical support on thickness, edges and cut-outs, not just a price list.
Frequently asked questions
How much do porcelain worktops cost in the UK?
Worktops are supplied and fitted through your stone fabricator or kitchen studio, who will price the full job including templating, fabrication and installation. Slab pricing is available to the trade on request. If you do not already have a fabricator, we can put you in touch with experienced firms in your area.
Can I have a mitred edge on a porcelain worktop?
Yes. Mitred edges are one of porcelain’s signature looks, letting your fabricator build any edge thickness with a seamless finish. Bullnose, chamfered and pencil-round profiles are also available.
Are porcelain worktops heat-resistant?
Yes, porcelain is heat-resistant to very high temperatures. As with any surface, your fabricator will advise on care around unsupported edges and cut-outs.
Can porcelain worktops be used outdoors?
Yes. Porcelain is UV-stable and frost-resistant, so it suits outdoor kitchens without fading or sealing.
