Andromeda OC08

Andromeda OC08 is the dark onyx effect in the range, a black and brown ground crossed by pale banding. It is one of the most dramatic slabs Clay stock, and it is listed under both black and brown because the balance shifts depending on the light it sits in.

Where Andromeda suits

This is a single surface material. It is specified for bar fronts, reception desks, fireplace surrounds, feature walls and table tops, where the pattern is meant to be the thing people notice. In a kitchen it is more often used on an island face or a splashback than across every worktop. It needs space and light around it, and it does not want a patterned floor or busy joinery competing with it.

Slabs in this range can be bookmatched, so two halves mirror each other across a join. Vein position is decided at the slab, which is why it is worth seeing the material rather than a sample.

Formats and finishes

This slab is stocked in 6mm in polished (rectified) and 12mm in polished or the textured Pat finish (non-rectified).

Slabs are 3240 x 1620mm in 12mm and 3200 x 1600mm in 6mm. The 12mm is supplied unrectified, so the usable working area in both is 3200 x 1600mm. As porcelain, the surface is stain, scratch and heat resistant, non-porous and needs no sealing. The 12mm is also offered in the textured Pat finish, which breaks up reflections across a large surface.
